I have recently returned to my passion of painting and
spend my spare time experimenting with a range of styles
and subject matter. The inspiration for my work comes from
a wide variety of sources including town scapes, landscapes
and figurative as well as looking at how artists past and
present have interpreted what they feel and see onto canvas.
Creating "good art' involves an understanding of tone
, balance, composition, and colour harmony. Combining all
these areas can be a challenge. When creating a piece of
art I often feel like i'm putting together the pieces of
a puzzle.
I regularly work in mixed media and use various mark making
tools, however I believe that simplicity is key to creating
great art, so i look for shapes/colours and composition
that i feel engage the viewer in a dialogue with the work.
