Artist Biography
Phil Wilson was born in Birmingham in 1972 and now lives in Harrogate with his wife and two children. He spent his childhood in Birmingham before moving to South Wales and was always
encouraged by his musical parents to explore his creativity through music and art.
He completed a university degree in Illustration, though wishes now he had pursued a degree in Fine Art instead, with the technical painting skills that were not part of an Illustration course. Indeed, he considers himself a self-taught painter, constantly working to develop his skills from books and endless practise.
Phil Wilson now teaches art three days a week at a school in Leeds, using the other two days for his own creations. Painting in a textured, colourful and painterly style, he tries through his
paintings to create a modern interpretation of common themes, working in mixed media including tissue paper, photography, inks and acrylics.
